Mt. Jinba is on the border between Tokyo and Kanagawa. Its altitude is 855m and it is not very well known. However, it has a good view and is a popular mountain in the local area.

A part of the Southern Alps can be seen from Mt. Jinba
Mt. Jinba is located on the border between Hachioji City, Tokyo and Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Due to the proximity of the very famous Mt. Takao, it may not be well known nationwide. However, it has a good view and is a famous and popular mountain in the local area.
The white horse statue on the top of the mountain is the symbol of Mt. Jinba. And when the weather is fine, you can see the view like this 360-degree panoramic photo.

Access to Mt. Jinba
(1) The easiest way to reach the summit is to drive to Wada Pass. Park your car in the toll parking lot and walk to the top of the mountain in about 30 minutes.
(2) From Tokyo, take a bus from the north exit of Takao Station on the JR Chuo Line to Jinba-kogenshita bus station. It takes about an hour and a half from the bus station to the summit of Mt. Jinba.
(3) From the Yamanashi side, take a bus from Fujino Station on the JR Chuo Line to near the trailhead. And there are several routes from there to Mt. Jinba. Alternatively, there is a mountain trail leading to Myo-oh Pass or Narako Pass. You can also climb these routes to Mt. Jinba.
(4) You can reach Mt. Jinba from Mt. Takao through Shiro-yama and Mt. Kagenobu. However, it takes one day, so trekking equipment is required. After that, go down to Jinba-kogenshita and take a bus to JR Takao Station. Considering the way back, it is better to go from Mt. Jinba to Mt. Takao.
